„Textile Company of the Year 2012“: Great honor for Styrian Sattler AG
Sattler AG receives a high mark of distinction on the occasion of the Annual Textile Industry Convention (TBSL) at Palais Eschenbach in Vienna. The Styrian textile company, family-owned since its foundation in 1875, was elected “Textile Company of the Year 2012” by the Austrian Textile Industry Association.
The award was offered on the grounds of Sattler’s incorporation of entirely new product segments and applications into the product portfolio. Besides Sattler’s traditional pillar, the special textiles for outdoor use, over the last years particular emphasis has been put onto the manufacture of ready-made products and the project business. The current annual production of woven fabric adds up to approx. 20 million square meters which are then processed and finished, as well as coated on the highly specialized production lines. One tenth of it goes into the manufacture of ready-made products.
Sattler’s CEO, Herbert Pfeilstecher, says: “We see this award as an acknowledgement of our successful work over many years. In particular, it also means the recognition of the strategy of internationalization with respect to our product lines SUN- and PRO-TEX, as initiated by Mr. Werner Tessmar-Pfohl, chairman of the Supervisory Board. The product line SUN-TEX comprises fabrics for awnings, garden furniture, boat covers, caravan awnings, large umbrellas, anti-glare and privacy protection. The PRO-TEX product range includes technical fabrics for truck tarpaulins, all kinds of coverings, large-surface advertising, tents and textile constructions.”
Also decisive for the choice as Textile Company of the Year 2012 was the increase of added value at MEMBRANE SOLUTIONS. Sattler AG not only specializes in roofing for international large projects such as shopping malls, railway stations and soccer stadiums but was also awarded the contract for the world’s largest biogas storage project in Mexico. Herbert Pfeilstecher: “To us, this acknowledgement confirms our decision to continue relying on our core competence and to strive for success based on outstanding product quality, innovation and strong export quotas.”

Sattler AG strengthens its presence in North America:
Established Styrian Company acquires enterprise with 70 staff members in North Carolina
Graz, 3rd December 2010 – Sattler AG/Graz, acting world wide in the field of technical fabrics, especially for outdoor use, acquired the Outdura brand from Shuford Mills LLC., Hudson, North Carolina, USA. This acquisition also includes the purchase of the Shuford Mills' production facility and the employment of around 70 staff members.
'We feel this planned acquisition will support the growth of two great brands – Satter and Outdura. Outdura is one of the most recognized, respected brands regarding outdoor fabrics. It has an extremely talented and customer-oriented team, a strong design department as well as well-trained staff members, says Herbert Pfeilstecher, CEO of Sattler and he adds: 'We are extremely excited about the growth potential of Sattler and Outdura across the US and world-wide. Outdura complements our portfolio perfectly: We increase market shares with regards to outdoor casual furniture and boat-covers and it will enable us to advance sales of our Austrian manufactured awning fabrics. North America will, therefore, become one of the most important markets in this area.'
'We are planning to invest in the Hudson facility and expand its production capability. Thus, we will increase our market presence in North America as well as the growth of the Outdura brand in the casual furniture and boat-cover segments', adds Alexander Tessmar-Pfohl, COO of Sattler. The acquisition will be finalized at the beginning of 2011 and then 'Outdura Corp.' will start production and sales.
The Sattler Group will increase its annual sales from 100 million to 110 million euros, and the 70 new employees increase the total number of staff to almost 600.
